Instructor Bio
Dan is a bit of a Jack of All Trades. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA in May of 2009 with a B.F.A. in Classical Guitar Performance. While there, he also studied Electrical and Computer Engineering. Somewhere along the way Dan began dancing, and what started as a casual attraction became a full-on addiction, leading to the creation of Living History Dance School.
What draws Dan to vintage swing dances is the unique mix of athleticism, artistry, and history. Every dance is a chance to create art in collaboration with another person - it can be entirely in-the-moment and spontaneous, sometimes surprising and challenging. As a teacher, Dan strives to help students polish their technique and aesthetic so that it becomes an integral part of their dance, and not something they need to worry about when social dancing.
Dan has accomplished much in a short period of time, building a vocabulary in Lindy-Hop, Balboa, Charleston, West Coast Swing, and Blues, winning competitions and hearts along the way.
